Cosmic Background Explorer: COBE
The Cosmic Background Explorer is a satellite that has been mapping the
microwave sky from Earth orbit. It is specifically designed to
look for variations in the primordial background radiation (the
Three Degree Background Radiation) discovered by Penzias and Wilson
in 1965.
