Public Lectures
Public lectures by reknown scientists who have a special gift for communicating their scientific insights and excitement about space research are a key element of the Space Grant Program's outreach efforts.

General Public
The New York Space Grant Consortium supports many general public activities including public Astronomy observing nights at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City, funds for the Sciencenter in Ithaca for the Sagan Planet Walk (a scale model of the solar system), a "Science Minute" radio program for students to write one minute essays on science with the emphasis on the space program to be aired on the radio, a robotics exhibit that allows visitors to piece together several components to form a custom robot device to accomplish simple tasks such as picking up a simulated Mars rock, etc. The New York Space Grant program sponsors lectures during Science and Technology Week. Another General Public program that the New York Space Grant helps support is the J. L. Hopkins Foundation Workshops for Journalists. The workshops are intended to highlight areas of current scientific research to journalists so they can better inform the public of the latest advances in science and technology. An informed public will be more equipped to understand and provide the necessary resources for a science and technology literate society.

The Space Grant Program supports the development of new space science and aerospace-related courses at member institutions.

The Space Grant Program maintains a library of engineering and space science publications of interest to students considering careers in those fields. Located in 317 Space Sciences Building at Cornell, the library is open weekdays throughout the year.

Advanced Fluid Mechanics Laboratory.
Established under the Clarkson Space Grant Program, the laboratory advances fundamental research in fluid dynamics from experimental, computational, and theoretical perspectives and fosters interactions between faculty and students.
