Welcome!
I am an astronomer working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Plank Institutes for Astrophysics (MPA) and for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE). I am involved in the COLD GASS project, a joint adventure between MPA, MPE, the IRAM observatory and several other institutions, to do a large census of the molecular gas contents of a large sample of massive nearby galaxies and connect them with their star formation properties. I am also involved in PEP, a guaranteed time Herschel key programme, which uses the PACS instruments to study the far-infrared properties of galaxies up to z=3 as a function of environment.
I completed my Ph.D. in Astronomy in June 2007 at Cornell University, working in the Extragalactic Group under the supervision of Riccardo Giovanelli, where I was (and still am) involved in the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey (ALFALFA), a blind survey of HI-bearing extragalactic objects. After that, I worked for two years as a postdoc at the University of Zurich with Kim-Vy Tran.
NEWS! Nov.2009: COLD GASS has been accepted as a large program at the IRAM 30m telescope. Obervations to begin in December.
